Exploring Painting Ideas to Provide Your Home Interior with a Contemporary Look

A homeowner has options to choose from both traditional and contemporary interior decoration ideas. Some people choose the traditional options and paint their interior rooms with a pale and neutral color, whereas others experiment with a number of creative and fun painting ideas to make the rooms look fresh and contemporary. If you have decided to provide your rooms with a stylish and contemporary look, it is always advisable to do some initial research.

Along with visiting the local company offering residential painting services, you can even refer to online articles and blogs to understand a variety of modern color combinations. Also, you can consider being more adventurous by creating specialized effects on the walls to convey a specific message. You can even gather ideas from your friends, family and coworkers to impress your guests and visitors with the distinct and contemporary look of your room interiors.

Experiment with Different Color Combinations:
When you are evaluating various color themes and combinations for the wall, it is a great idea to try different colors and observe their effects on canvas boards. Place the boards inside the room to evaluate the suitability of the color to the existing furnishing and décor.

Along with applying paints of different colors on the walls, you can even consider painting each wall with distinct shades of a single color. At the same time, you also need to concentrate on the meaning and significance of each color. For instance, yellow walls will make you happy, green walls will keep you calm, and red walls will create excitement.

Consider Painting a Mural:
Similar to applying paints of different combinations, you can even consider extending realistic and life-size murals to make you walls looks contemporary. You can also choose from a variety of paintings that can cover only the accent wall or the entire room.

Once you choose the mural, any local artist or professional offering residential painting services can help you in executing the idea. A simple web search can fetch you information about a wide range of life-size paintings and their significance. Also, you can consider some of the popular murals like mountains, lake, beach scene, underwater seascape and city skyline.

The faux finishing techniques are popular due to their effectiveness in achieving a number of objectives. Along with creating a finished surface that looks like an entirely different material, the finishing can further hide the flaws and damages on your wall. Based on your personal choice, you can choose the best finishing techniques that can provide an interesting finish to the room.

Many homeowners prefer faux finishing techniques that perfectly imitate the texture of plaster or stucco, the graininess of wood, or the look of polished marble. Painting Tips

Don't get shocked when I tell you to paint a ceiling. If you have clearly defined room in that you know where it ends. This means not a continous ceiling leading to another room. If you have this and it is commong in dining rooms and home offices then put some color up above. Pick a color in a photo and bring it to the ceiling. I suggest strong colors on ceiling with light colors on walls.

Interior ideas

I just did an estimate for a wonderful couple who were looking to remodel 2 bathrooms. I think the bathrooms remodels are a good idea as the house is 40 years old. But what I suggested that cost a fraction of that, that I believe would dramatically improve and update the interior look, would be to replace the interior doors. They have old stained doors. I said lets try some 6 panel doors and paint everything white. They loved the idea. This will cost with labor under $150 per door.

Metal Roofs

Not everyone can paint metal roofs as they are just dangerous if you are no regularly working on them.
It is one job most painters are quick, to do too quick, so they can get off an extremely hot surface that is dangerous. Ask your painting company how many metal roofs they paint each year and when was the last one they did.

Its not a life sentence (exterior painting)

You know you can change the color on the outside of your home when you get it repainted.
Having painted over 1,000 exteriors, it amazes me how 90% keep the same color. I believe it is
just because they can't visualize something different. You can get a paint sample and paint a small area to see if you like it. Sometimes just changing the shade, going a little darker, can make a dramatic difference. Try changing this up the next time you get your exterior painted.

Dress up your deck

Something as simple as replacing the top rail (where your put your drinks) is a good way to modernize your deck. The top rail, also bears the brunt of the sun, so it needs replacing every 2-3 years anyway. If your rail is only 4" wide consider using an 6 or 8" wide top rail which allows for holding drinks and dinner plates.

What we do not do

I pulled up to a traffic light today to see a competitors van that listed at least 25 things they do from carpet to capentry. It looked like a phone book. I have interviwed hundreds of potential employees and have yet to interview this superhandyman.  Be careful of people who say they are great at everything.

Your house needs a smile

It is not hard to replace that standard front door with a door with sidelights. (that is glass on the sides). It adds so much light to your foyer and not to mention significant updated look from the outside. If you have had s standard painted door changed to a stained wood grain look can make a huge difference.

You can even improve this

If you are buying a home or looking rot build one, consider this, have the laundry room where all the dirty clothes are. This is normally where the bedrooms are, specifically kid's bedrooms. It amazes me how many laundry rooms are either on the first floor or in the basement. The problem is the bedrooms are normally on he second floor. If you already are in home that your are planning on staying in, just move the laundry room. Many people have guest room they never use. Idea: consider cutting that room in half. This will allow a larger closet for someone, whoever's room is behind the given area, as well as, having sufficient room to add a laundry room. Turn your existing laundry room into a mudroom or pantry.
